My Trip to Louisville

Whoa! They didn't cancel my blog due to neglect! That's amazing! Seriously, I can't believe how long it's been since I've blogged. It really takes discipline to do this business, huh? I'm finally getting around to mentioning my trip which I took a month and a half ago.

Sometimes you just need a spiritual journey, a time to reconnect with a place where you once clearly and undoubtedly heard God's voice. I figured going to Louisville would be that for me. I was going to get away from everything and go out into nature and campout and pray. Have myself a real quest.

So you can imagine my surprise when Jeannine told me that she would be up for the weekend. After I drove for several hours and ALAS! I MADE IT to my old Kentucky home, my girlfriend pops in for a weekend visit via skytravel. Waterfront park was all I remembered it to be, and while we were up we went to a bluegrass festival long enough to have hot dogs and ice cream and hear Man of Constant Sorrow performed by a band with a 12 year old mandolin player. I was happy that I also got to revisit my Sunday school class and my wonderful sunday night friends.

I got to see my best friend from childhood and his wife, and they have a funny little dog. Or maybe it's a mouse/dog hybrid. I'm not sure. When I finally got home, the week had been full of fun and good times, but I realized that I had neglected the very thing I had gone up there to do. I hadn't taken the hours to spend in search of a life-changing revelation from God. But I had gotten exactly what I had hoped the end results would be - I revisited dear old friends, and found a time of spiritual renewal.
