The Sudanese Genocide: A Brief Synopsis
I was originally going to write a post reminiscing about the days of 12-minute worldwide news on Channel One in middle and high school, but then when I went to their website, I became aware of the genocide going on in Sudan. How is it possible that I wasn't even aware?!Then it occurred to me that maybe some of you aren't aware either, so take this link to Channel One's website, and it will give you a very quick tutorial of what's going on. It won't take much of your time.

Please pray for Sudan. It breaks my heart to see that these people are being killed.

And I'm not the only one - some of my friends are also still in the dark (which is why I posted that link - to inform them).
This issue of genocide in the Sudan has really come to the forefront within the past 6 mos (I think). I first really started hearing about it after watching "Hotel Rwanda" with Donna and Lisa one night, and then that launched into a two-hour discussion between the three of us about what was going on. (Speaking of which - if you haven't seen "Hotel Rwanda," YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT!!!)
Have you guys ever heard of the website for Voice of the Martyrs? You really should check it out - it talks a lot about what's going on in the Sudan. Check it out: persecution.com (I think...)
Let this be a major red flag to all of us: let us NOT fall into the temptation of thinking that just because we live in our little American, persecution-free bubble that these circumstances are NOT going on elsewhere in the world. PRAY for the brothers and sisters around the globe - IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY!!! We are one Family united in Christ, people... Let's keep running this race together.

My heart has been broken for Sudanese since last fall - it's horrible that it has been going on for years. The story that inspired the movie "Hotel Rwanda" - of Paul Rusasabagina - was so that he could open the eyes of the world to the same suffering going on in the Sudan. I would encourage you to watch this movie - it really brings to light the reality of our Sudanese brothers and sisters in Christ who are being persecuted and murdered.
let's pray for Sudan.
GENOCIDE...another evidence that the world is cursed. Is there a better proof for depravity? (I'm sure there is, but there aren't many)
